Hi Teddy, Re: PetroCratering Thanks for the marvelous example of the principle: "Sometimes you go for results and instead, you get consequences..." It was a real LOL moment. Don't take me wrong, I'm not that sinister, but after 25 years in the construction industry, I've grown a bit, shall we say, complacent about the disasters of other contractors. This incident sure puts backhoe fade into perspective. <g> I couldn't agree with you more about not investing in companies I don't have total faith in. I believe WCG falls right in that category. I'd far sooner plug a few more bucks into my JDSU holdings, because every Tom, Dick and WCG that is laying glass in the ground is eventually going to need JDSU gear to light up. Back to WCG's management for a moment. I see the explosions up in the Columbia Gorge and the decision to lay a non-looped network as part of the same low-bid mentality that drove me crazy in the bidding wars I used to be engaged in. We had a saying in California, "Never enough time to do it right, always enough time to do it over." I find myself on the other side of the coin from the Williams honcho as regards network topology and redundancy. Nuff sed. Best, Ray

Teddy, thanks for the encouragement. I'll organize an approach to covering this subject and attempt to provide a structured approach in a developmental way, if possible. Before we get to that, I should add that this is an extremely broad and nontrivial subject to cover (especially with IP now prevalent as it is), but some good fundamental precepts should be doable, getting us started in the right direction.
