I just thought I'de give the thread a heads up on i2. Maybe we could speculate about where they are GG wise over on the ecommerce thread sometime. I'm happy to discuss it here. The e-commerce portion of i2's income only accounts for a portion of their revenues. i2 is the niche gorilla in Supply Chain Management software. Dell computer, among others like most auto manufacturers, can thank i2 for the excellent SCM product which has helped them keep track of their superior business model's activities. On a side note - it is amazing to me that Dell knows at any minute where every computer is, where each individual part is located, inventory, the tracking for every order, etc... . Yet - OPEC couldn't tell you where the heck a barrel of oil is at the moment. I live in Vienna where OPEC's headquarters are located so I feel like picking on them since they could use a little i2 product to help prevent wild swings in oil prices. How about this for a future headline - "i2's e-commerce solution for the oil industry takes the strain off of supply/demand issues, the industry becomes efficient and the price of oil drops back to $14 a barrel." <g> Maybe some time in the future..... Confirmation of why i2's share price pop of six and change took place on Friday was announced last night at 7:15 ET. A record quarter for i2 was to blame and the coming quarter is, by tradition, their strongest. Here's the link:biz.yahoo.com Net income was up 289 percent. Total revenues were up 53 percent. Record earnings of 12 cents a share. All three were records. Management says going forward things look even better.``We achieved record results this quarter,' concluded Mr. Sidhu, ``and now we enter our traditionally strongest quarter. In short, our prospects appear bright.' I guess in the gorilla game we shouldn't focus on quarterly results once a gorilla is established, such as i2 in SCM. However, it is important to note that i2's move into e-commerce (like many other software vendors of various sectors) will need to be viewed closely as the lines are less clear now for all software companies in terms of current status and what the future will behold. Since we are literally at the beginning stages for all the B2B and B2C wave - it appears growth will be swift, powerful and no prisoners will be taken. BB
