but there are some things which I don't believe can be evolved gradually.
It's a common problem to look at a complex item such as an eye and think, that couldn't have just happened, yet eyes evolved at least 6 separate times, and different paths were taken. Squids have much better eyes than humans because the path of their evolution allowed the optic nerve to be below the receptor cells. Humans have a "blind spot" where the nerve connects to the receptors.

It all seems even more wonderous when one considers only the final product. For every amazing structure found in nature there are others that didn't evolve. Where are the plants or animals that evolved the wheel? (You could say humans, since they thought it up, or even horses since they got humans interested in hauling them around and so created horse trailers, but the evolution of ideas is a different subject with some different methods and outcomes). The point is all of the plants and creatures will appear to be the best possible adaptation, until something better comes along.

I grant your point about creation. In you view, how long did creation take? We may not be that far off idealogically.
