pala,

I think the sales peoples problem may have stemmed from compatibility problems. ie they are not a sales aid because they probably wont work when you hook it up at home. Better to count on whatever the satellite co. or cable co. provides.

Could you state the incompatibility problems? I have been stalking the retail chains for over two years. IPG sales have grown from a few hundred to well over 100,000/month at present.

Pala. Try Best Buy for Web TV and Circuit City for Guide+. For me Web TV is poor, but, of course, I'm used to 56K and 400 mhz Pentium III. My salesman too was somewhat nonplused when I seemed more interested in the Guide+ than the 36 " Sony he wanted to sell me.

JohnG, Doug and everyone,

My experiences in the distant past at Circuit City is that the Guides can't be viewed. Circuit City (when I visited them) isn't set up to download the data. I agree that Thomson and the other CE companies need to work with Gemstar to develop free-standing demos, independent of the televisions, that show the benefits of having a built-in guide.
