I don't think the market is a casino. I think different constituencies have different reasons for owning stocks, and many of these reasons have only tenuous connections to earnings and quality of earnings. I haven't read Barron's this weekend, so I don't want to wade out too far out here, but I do think, as a general rule, it is dangerous to attribute price moves which persist past the very short term to generalized investor stupidity, laziness, or cluelessness.
