Joan, It seems to me, if someone makes an assumption and another person challenges that assumption, the onus falls on the person challenging the assumption to provide evidence which is contrary.

If we are to believe the assumption that atheists are just as likely to help start and work in charitable organization which help people. Statistically speaking we should be able to name at least *one* organization started by a professed atheist in America.

I'll tell you what, I'll go out on a limb and offer an experiment to test my assumption. Let's examine the charities listed by Cobalt and see if we can find the roots of those organizations. "Red Cross, Medicines sans Frontiers, ACLU, Habitat for Humanity,"

If my assumption has some validity, the founders of those organization will be christian or religios people. If not, I'll admit to being wrong. But I think we should discount the ACLU, because I don't believe that organization is really designed to help other people vs. helping promote its political ideology.

I only have time for one now..

Here's the founder of the Red Cross. Raised in a deeply religious household. Not really a clear picture, but it's all I could find out. Not sure of the founder of the American chapter.
