SAN DIEGO (Dow Jones)--Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM) received approval from the Chinese
government to provide satellite data services to Guangdong South Satellite
Telecommunications Service Co., a unit of Guangdong Nanfang Communications
Group.

In a press release Monday, Qualcomm said it will provide its Omnitracs mobile
information-management system for China's transportation industry.

The Omnitracs system is an interactive mobile communications system with
satellite tracking and fleet management software.

Guangdong South Satellite provides telecommunications services and operates a
public satellite network.

Qualcomm develops digital wireless-telecommunications products and services.
