"criminal enterprise" -- that's what the SEC called Peter Foley's previous employer, A. R. Baron.

The use of the phrase "criminal enterprise" really caught my attention. It has been used only a few times in SEC news releases, based on my search of the SEC website.

Here's an excerpt from the SEC's news release August 5, 1999:


Baron collapsed in 1996 after engaging in numerous violations of law, operating as a criminal enterprise, and causing millions of dollars of investor losses.
