mp3 suits me fine. I have already encoded a portion of my CD collection into mp3 and I am not excited about doing a conversion to another platform.

If another standard arrives to replace mp3 (which I doubt), I suspect there will be a software upgrade possible for these devices, just as is currently possible with palm PC's.

RCA lists the Lyra as upgradeable....

Available software upgrade allows you to store and play new compressed digital music formats as they emerge.
