on the contrary, there's nothing wrong with comparing one speculative mania to another. the parallels between the manias are in fact astounding. they all seem to follow the same path and have similar economic backdrops, no matter if they happen in the 30,s the 80's or the 90's. one of the facets of a speculative mania is that the majority of participants remains blissfully unaware of what is taking place. you are a great example of that.
