You seem to be wrong about Turkey. When playing at top form, they are really beautiful. I admit not knowing of Russian capabilities right now, but I think, the play-offs are really a hard field this time. I think there are simply too many competitors to provide for a good chance for most good teams. I didn't want to make the point that Russia would have been 'out' anyway - I wished to point out that Russia wouldn't have been automatically 'in' even if they had won - there was still a long way to go, as I see it. For Ireland you are right, but I think it is one of the teams that can endanger any expected winner by surprise.
