THREAD ---Lucent Technologies Inc. Dow Jones Newswires -- October 12, 1999 DJ AirGate PCS, Lucent Sign 3-Year Pact Worth Up To $150M ATLANTA (Dow Jones)--AirGate PCS Inc. (PCSA), the Southeastern affiliate of Sprint Corp. PCS Group (PCS), and Lucent Technologies Inc. (LU) signed a three-year supply contract worth up to $150 million. AirGate will build and operate a Personal Communication Services network throughout North and South Carolina. In a press release Wednesday, AirGate PCS said Lucent will provide the switching hardware and software as well as radio hardware and software and related financing needed to build the wireless network. AirGate said the network should launch in the first quarter of 2000. AirGate is the exclusive manager and operator of Sprint PCS products in North and South Carolina and parts of Georgia.
