i didn't...i bought back into the market in early November...when i was convinced that something better than a sucker's rally was underway. of course i didn't catch the October low, like so many other geniuses did, but i was quite happy with the returns nevertheless. i have sold all my intermediate term long positions from April to July, some a bit too early with hindsight, but who has ever caught the exact top to sell anyway? the i shifted into gold stocks and index shorts and so far i'm quite happy with that as well.
i bought some steel stocks recently...couldn't resist. and for now i remain positioned that way...short the indices and long gold stocks mainly, a bit like the prudent bear fund.
it's called contrary investing, buy what's out of favor and sell what everybody else is buying...
