J: Looking ahead: Semis will rock. Your LSI and INTC should do well this week, unless of course Andy's Gang throws a big round house curve.....

Here's another day trading idea.

Advanced Energy (AEIS) announced their intention to sell shares in a secondary offering on September 23. The release is at biz.yahoo.com. The prospectus is at sec.gov. The price was 38.34375 at the time they made the announcement. The price dove after the announcement, so the offering was postponed. The investment bankers are worried that the deal won't go through, so they sent the price back up to 39 today.

AEIS has plenty of money because they had another secondary offering at 32 in October, 1997. The prospectus is at sec.gov. The timing was impeccable because the stock crashed a month after it was sold and the price was 6 a year later.

The chip equipment industry is ideal for the investment baking industry because there tend to have a boom cycle of 2-3 years followed by a bust that lasts 1-2 years.
