I need to run more apps at once. Currently have 128 ram. Running win98. I was told that adding more than 128 ram wouldn't do much good. Anyone know if that is true?

If you are a typical day trader running RT III, or equivalent, than the odds are you do not need more than 128 megabytes of memory. Unfortunately with Windows 98 there aren't any really good ways to check upon how much free memory you have after you load several programs. I have tried using the system tools that come with Windows 98 but always got inconsistent results. My recommendation is to add up the size of the exe files of all of the programs you want to load at one time and compare this with the amount of memory you have. This will only give you a crude estimate of the amount of memory you will need. As Windows, dynamic link libraries and your data files will also require memory. But at least it is a starting point. I have also noticed that day traders who run a lot of programs have more problems with a shortage of system resources than insufficient memory. This is caused by limitations in Windows and not the amount of memory installed in your computer or the speed of your CPU.

looking at adding another monitor and figure I'll need to add something else..

If you are going to add another monitor the only thing you need to add is another video card. If you already have 128 megabytes of memory there is absolutely no reason to add more memory to add another monitor.
