Pentafour's second-quarter net soars 98% to Rs 5.25 cr pentafour.com K Sreedevi-Fe Chennai, Oct 11: Pentafour Communications Ltd (PCL) has recorded a 75 per cent growth in its turnover achieving a revenue of Rs 25.57 crore for the second quarter ended September 1999. Exports contributed to about 61 per cent of the total turnover for the quarter securing Rs 15.70 crore. Net profit has shot up by 98 per cent to Rs 5.25 crore from Rs 2.64 crore recorded during the corresponding period in the last fiscal. Gross profit has increased by 87 per cent to Rs 9.43 crore (Rs 5.04 crore). Total expenditure is up at Rs 15.89 crore (Rs 8.42 crore). However, interest and financial charges are down to Rs 53 lakh (Rs 1.31 crore). Depreciation is provided for Rs 3.48 crore (Rs 2.10 crore). The increase in gross block during the second quarter is Rs 7.42 crore (Rs 4.14 crore). The education and training division, operating under the name of Pentasoft, has earned Rs 10.20 crore, about 40 per cent of the total turnover. The second quarter saw the company opening 18 new branches in the country apart from launching centres in the US, Malaysia and Singapore. The CAD/GIS (computer aided designing and geographical information systems) division, known as 3CRC, accounted for 33 per cent (Rs 8.44 crore) of the total turnover. Tying up with new multi-national companies for marketing their software apart, 3CRC has also bagged about half-a-dozen new projects in the second quarter, stated a company release. The systems integration (SI) division contributed to 27 per cent (Rs 6.93 crore) of the quarter's turnover. The division, too, has bagged major orders both from banks and health care institutes, in the quarter for total systems integration. PCL hopes to open more CAD/CAM and GIS business centres throughout the world starting with Germany and Dubai, the release added.
