Rude,
CPQ may have grown their PC business at 55% like DELL, but the reports I remember stated that CPQ's ASP (Average Selling Price)was $550 less than DELL's. That is nothing to ignore when you're talking about ASP's in the $1700-$2200 range.

DELL is squeezing the little guys (and some big guys) to get what they want. I love it.

Samsung in $8.5 bln Dell deal - company official

SEOUL, Oct 12 (Reuters) - South Korea's Samsung Electronics will sign a five-year, $8.5 billion contract with Dell Computer Corp (NasdaqNM:DELL - news) of the United States to sell thin-film-transistor (TFT) liquid crystal displays (LCD), a company official said on Tuesday.

``The contract is part of Samsung's effort to establish stable, long-term demand for our LCDs,' said the official, who did not want to be identified. He said the contract was expected to be signed on Friday.

The official also said Samsung would privately place $200 million in convertible bonds with Dell as part of the contract.

``The convertible bonds will also be placed on Friday and will have a maturity of three-years and three-months,' he said.

The bond's conversion price was set at a 30 percent premium to Samsung's closing share price on October 8, which was 200,000 won.

He said the conversion period would begin on October of next year.

Samsung's share price was quoted at 202,000 won in early Tuesday trading, up 7,000 won on the day.
