Good point OX. If you tell your broker you want to put them on as a "spread" you can often beat at least half of the spread (different kind of spread) or the difference between bid and ask as the option MM will not feel like he has to make his money on both sides of the deal. A lot of brokerages' trading desks will not have a clue as to this kind of request so they would never think to volunteer it to you.
