Dear Colleen: I agree with you - compassion is where its at! There is a sad fact in much I see posted, and that is a total lack of compassion for one another. We are all sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God. None of us fully understands all there is to know, and yet so often we react with such arrogance towards others that have a slightly different take on a particular scripture. Arrogance has no place in our witness to one another. As we look at Jesus, we see God as a servant, who is filled with humility. That humbleness is so attractive and lovely don't you think? For so many reasons Jesus is, as the Bible says, "One altogether lovely". For us however, its all too easy to become negative instead of radiating humility and joy over our relationship with Jesus. Jesus said that "I desire compassion and not sacrifice". We all need to have more compassion and understanding towards each other. Its easy to tear down, but then what do we have? Its takes so much more dedication and effort to "built up" and encourage one another. I have really been blessed by studying the life of a fellow, in the New Testament, who was called Barnabas (which means son of encouragement)by his fellow believers. Anyway, enough said. You are obviously a very tolerant and compassionate person, as are some others on this thread. Its good when we challenge each other to think and read and pray. It can sharpen us all. However, sometimes the challenge is not sent in the right spirit, and can discourage rather than encourage. That's bad for all...... Keep up the encouraging and compassionate posts! Your friend, Jeff
