The Albert Einstein Technology Medal salutes the vanguard of the high-tech
industry. With their vision, these leaders have revolutionized the perception
of time and space, linking us with ever-growing speed and ingenuity. They have
pushed the envelope of technology in the service of mankind and through their
enterprising pursuits and willingness to take risks, have enabled others from
their cutting-edge discoveries.
Albert Einstein said, "I want to know how God created this world ... I
want to know his thoughts, the rest are details." His uninhibited curiosity
led him to monumental achievements, like those who will be receiving this
tribute.
The award also honors the spirit of partnership in perfecting the world,
or tikkun olam.
The Jerusalem Fund of Aish HaTorah is a rapidly expanding outreach
organization committed to a worldwide Jewish renaissance. Through Jewish
education, it aims to demonstrate how Jewish values can inform contemporary
concerns and issues. Toward that end, The Jerusalem Fund supports innovative
Jewish education projects on five continents in 80 cities, 10 in the former
Soviet Union alone.
It is sponsoring the museum in order to nurture a special connection
between high-tech industry leaders and Israel. Israel's dynamic high-tech
sector is no secret. Of the $2 billion in foreign investment in 1998,
46 percent is in high-tech. The mission seeks to bolster high-tech investment
in Israel's cutting-edge companies to the mutual benefit of American and
Israeli companies.
