Historically, America has been a Protestant nation. Periodically there have been waves of evangelical zeal that have transformed the country. The anti-slavery movement was begun on an evangelical crusade. Women's suffrage was the work of evangelical crusaders. And of course prohibition was the product of an evangelical crusade. Its interesting that in the latter two movements their allies were feminists and the Ku Klux Klan, respectively.

Brumar,

I feel duty bound to answer your "to anyone" post because I seem to keep this subject going!!:o)

If Christians ever get the feeling that an earthly nation "belongs" to them, we need to get down on our knees and beg forgiveness.

Having said that, I also feel no shame for asking The Almighty to bless America. IF I am thinking as God would have me think, I also ask Him to bless..Thailand, India, England, etc etc. right?

AS I have said..... I do not think America is great because it is a "Christian nation" but rather a nation with Christians in it. But I also will say that if America falls, there will still be people calling on the NAme of the Lord.

As far as how our country was set up? Let me ask a question? Anyone can answer......IF America as a nation, was set up by... oh let's say Shiite Muslims, does ANYONE feel they would have freedom of religion now?

Being a "Christian nation" IMO, will not transport America to heaven when The Good Lord calls. As the word says. God is Spirit, and His worshippers must worship in spirit and truth.

I, for one, thank GOD for allowing me to live in a place that has afforded me and my family to worship Him freely. That may change. But there are Christians on this earth this very day, that will thank God just as much if not more so for letting THEM worship Him in the midst of Godless men that would punish them if they knew it.

I also believe that it rains on the just and the unjust.

Let me finish with a question? Do you believe that this country as a nation has been used by God to bless and/or curse other nations?
