If I like the person, or like what they are saying, the way they say it doesn't offend me as much, yes. I don't pretend to be perfect. It's well-known that people tend to be partial to those they like, that's why judges are supposed to recuse themselves when a friend or relative is a litigant. Are you saying that you're different?

Not necessarily at all. I may agree with the argument and still find the expression of it inappropriate to the tone of the thread. Moreover, I have been known to give holy hell to posters whom I like very much when they have gone over the edge on a thread. What is appropriate on a hockey thread or Insults Only can be totally off the mark on a stock thread or on a thread such as this.
