jla, if you think I am a gasbag, and can't resist the impulse to puncture me, have at it. I'm a tough old broad. But may I suggest that instead hanging back, needling people, why don't you suggest a topic for general discussion? Advance a thesis? Throw down the gauntlet? Because I think we've probably said all that needs to be said about how we say it, and now it's time to just say it. Hope you don't think that's too overbearing.

I've given up already. After all, I cannot claim to be guiltless either. I "put up" with X because I "get" her. On the subject of nihil, I retreat into silence. I think that the "regulars" tend to be more tolerant of one another because they have gotten to know one another over time and have seen many sides of one another. A newcomer has only the side(s) initially presented unless the person has been encountered elsewhere.
