Echelon: We gave the early heads-up on networker Echelon Corp. (ELON: news, msgs) in a Sept. 27 piece about insider buying at the Cisco Systems-endorsed California company -- even as Echelon shares languished at 7 or so. See the column. Echelon makes LonWorks networks, a kind of engineering standard for open control networks. Now, we're told Echelon could unveil a product deal with Cisco (CSCO: news, msgs) at a conference in the Netherlands this week. The shares have risen more than 40 percent to 10 on Nasdaq in just two days. cbs.marketwatch.com
