Alan,

Forbes reported that problem is fixed-and seemed very credible.
In addition their seems to be product in the pipe at techdata as has been posted here.

It should be discussed at Intel conf call this afternoon.

And rumor is product will be reintroduced starting friday.

Folks are increasingly talking about coppermine 733s on Oct 25 as well as cascades (which is a Xeon replacement using the 840 chipset - which also uses Rambus).

So we should have a major rally in the price once all this is confirmed.

Of course folks are shy about buying in till the fat lady sings - of course it might be expensive to buy in then.

regards,

Kash

Alan,

somebody out there seems to know something, and it obviously aint bad. Up 4 1/2 on high volume

The Forbes article, especially the way it starts off, below, is rather positive that there are fixes, or at least solutions.

Rambus: It finally works!

By Om Malik

NEW YORK. 5:40 PM EDT-Like a cat with nine lives, Rambus (nasdaq: RMBS) of Santa Clara,
Calif., is staging a comeback, thanks to some smart handiwork by Intel (nasdaq: INTC) engineers. ...snip...
Now the word is that Intel has fixed these problems and may announce the production schedule as
early as this Friday.

I love it, handiwork. Engineering folk often see red when more credit is given to firefighting instead of "doing it right the first time."

By this Friday sounds pretty positive. What bothers me is that I haven't seen any similar article from one of the more tech oriented rags than Forbes.

Tony

Rambus Earnings --Thursday, October 14 after the close.

There seems to be mounting evidence of a formal launch on Friday of the 820 Chipset followed by the release of the 840 on October 25. This not surprisingly coincides with the launch of Slot1 and Slot2 Coppermines.

Rumor has it that the first 840 Motherboards will available in the third week of November. These appear to have none of the problems of the 820 and are Rambus only.

Good Luck to all

Alex
