Michelle,
I remember you posting about getting into etrade last week and William getting into Charles Schwab. Technically I thought things were looking a bit more promising for the ebrokers the last two weeks but I didn't pull the trigger. Also, remember, not all brokers are getting hurt now - the full-service houses are doing well today - people are leary of the ebrokers right now because of the NITE news plus there is always some of that Walmart-Amazon type thinking in this space(that is, the full service guys are the sleeping giants who will wake up, get on the net, and take their business back) and right now the full service guys are having their day. I've held SCH in the past and I still think they will continue to prosper I'd like to see it go to 30 but may get in before that.
EGRP's IPO's are a lotto ticket. They have received 100,000 shares or less of a number of the IPO's (especially the good ones like RHAT, IWOV, FDRY) they have distributed which means at most 1,000 lucky winners of 100 shares. Meanwhile I believe a large percentage of their account holders are trying for those IPO's which makes the odds pretty poor (at least I console myself with that fact as I still haven't received any). But it is a very visible marketing tool which I believe has attracted accounts their way (I opened an account there for just this reason to buy a ticket and take a shot). I certainly like EGRP better than most of the other ebrokers excluding SCH which continues to be on a separate plane but I do think they still have some room to drop.

FWIW,
Jerry
