STOCKS FALL FURTHER AS BOND YIELDS RISE; DOW OFF 215
New York--Oct 12--US stock prices fell further as blue-chip issues remained under pressure from rising Treasury bond yields. The Dow Jones industrial average was down 215 at 10433 while the Nasdaq composite index fell 43 to 2872. Traders said that investors feared that economic reports due later this week on retail sales and producer prices could cause interest rates to rise even further.
Meanwhile, the situation in Pakistan is not helping the market. While analysts said it's not yet an overriding concern on Wall Street, equity players will keep a close eye on developments in that part of the world, particularly given the turbulence that has plagued the market around this time in years past.
