Intel (INTC: news, msgs) put on 2 3/4 to 79 1/4 ahead of its third-quarter earnings report due out after Tuesday's close of trade. The First Call survey of analysts forecasts a profit of 57 cents a share. That compares to 89 cents in the year-ago period. Merrill Lynch analyst Joe Osha expects the semiconductor titan to do even better. Osha's looking for 60 cents, along with $2.37 and $2.91 in 1999 and 2000, respectively. The analyst has "buy" ratings for both intermediate- and long-term horizons. See full story.
