The simple point about the concentration camp films is that two separate credible witnesses reported that he said he had taken those films himself. This incident would be more credibly explained away as "fatigue," or "language problems," as Zoltan has, had the person doing the talking been some less prone to making things up. Reagan started the war as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Cavalry Reserve. He ended the war as a Captain, I think. The question is, Captain in what branch. He had been attached to the First Motion Picture Unit, and your research seems to indicate that the commanding officer was in Airforce Intelligence, which may indicate that his final rank was as a Captain in Air Force Intelligence. That ought to be easy enough to establish. It is also unimportant. What made it the topic of discussion, for me, was Zoltan's apparent implication that RR was in any traditional way serving as an Intelligence Officer. Now if Zoltan was not implying that, I can quite easily make this boring subject disappear by stipulating that as long as it's clear that whatever his official final rank, RR's main assignment in Culver City, after a rather brief stint making training films, was to work as an actor continuing his career down the road apiece from his wife and child.
