Gold trade at new high: LBMA

LONDON, Oct 12: London's average daily gold turnover reached 37.1 million ounces in September, two per cent up on the previous month and the highest level this year, the London Bullion Market Association said on Tuesday.

The LBMA said in a statement that, prompted by the September 26 pledge by 15 European central banks to limit gold sales, activity sharply increased in the last week of the month.

Gold turnover reached a low of 25.2 million ounces in April. Daily average values in September rose by five per cent to $9.8 billion.

Silver turnover slipped 10 percent from the previous month to 176.3 milllion ounces.-Reuters
