Slider can you turn your gaze toward NBL. I think it should belong in your core group of E&P's at these levels. (OEI, UPR, PXD).

NBL surprised to the upside last quarter in a big way. I'm not only looking for cheap beaten down E&P's here, I'm looking for one's that'll crush estimates.

I wish you would have posted those ratings on APC earlier <G>. I raised some cash today by selling some of my calls. Between Gary's waves, the overall market and the action in APC I got a little spooked. However, I put much of profits back into other laggard: CRK and NBL. Also bought the NBL Nov 30 and Feb 30 calls so I don't think I'll be too upset if APC runs to 35+ before Nov expiration.

Tomorrow could be wild. Crude draw down, winter season right around the corner, INTC misses its quarter, bond market firmer. <eom>

Gave MHR a brief look. My standard for comparing any EnP at the moment is TMR. Here is what I found so far (not very encouraging to me)

1. Every analyst expects MHR to lose money next year, according to Yahoo (not sure why yet).

2. No long term growth estimates for MHR. Why?

3. High long term debt/equity ratio of 4.11

4. Less than half the outstanding shares of TMR, but higher float.

5. Very low market cap ($62.8M)

6. Fairly illiquid (DV 3 Month Ave = 49K)

7. MHR just lost an analyst's interest, the only strong buy, effectively receiving a downgrade in the face of dramatically higher energy prices.

8. MHR is traded on the AMEX. I have had trouble getting orders processed properly on illiquid AMEX and NASDAQ listed stocks this past summer, and have received several settlements to date.

I'm seeing TMR as a much better bargain so far, but then I haven't found a stock that really compares to it in months.
