RTev: After a 40 year career in marketing/advertising/public relations, I disagree with you concerning the value of advertising. After I posted #12793 I read the New York Times and CNET had a full-page ad in color. I think a full page in N Y Times is the most expensive of American newspapers. It finally cleared up for me what CNET is all about.

Of course with the appointment today of Quigely it's a mute point. The corporate press release says "he extends the company's marketing, advertising and branding programs." I think all the discussion generated on this thread about marketing and advertising may have moved up this important announcement. In my opinion, strategic marketing planning was a missing link. Quigley's "branding" experience is just what GNET needs.
