Jhg-in-kc,

re:"rolling the silicon again"

What this means is that the worst case scenario for Rambus will not occur. The worst case scenario was a design modification to the silicon design which would have required a redesign, mask change, new prototype silicon, and validation anew, with another 8-10 weeks of production lead-time for revised 820 chipsets. In the worst case this would have meant production in late Q1 at best.

Now they know they can use current 820 chipsets and they are confident of the fix. They are still "validating" and will announce production soon in Q4.

All indications are that it means volume in early november - so they can still ship decent christmas volumes.

It would be silly to introduce a brand new product on 12/15 say.

So although he was very conservative the real news is very very positive.

regards,

Kash
