Jim I disagree with AOL, I think Yahoo will be the dominent player. The new world will reward its open architecture, and utilization of BCST. I think that NOK has to be put in there. To me they are the DELL to the PC analogy. Qcom Is the MSFT/INTC and NOK is Dell.

Dont forget TI,BRCM,CNXT,PHCM,
These guys will be players in the future.

Uniphase in fiberoptic
... they dominate now with all manner of components, owning the key piece of EDFA (erbium doped fiber amplifier)

JDS Uniphase has been on a roll recently. I had dumped my Q shares in exchange for JSDU. Both had similiar gains over that period of time but i felt the risk in QCOM was more due to that analyst that met with management a while ago and put this stock in a downward spiral.
However, good news recently has turned things around.

To me it appears these are the types of companies that should continue on a roll----the high fliers.

I am still amazed that Q was able to do so well recently. I only made money on it by daytrading (buying as soon as it crossed 200). Intel's earnings disappointment may pump more money into these types of stocks. Not too much cash coming out of Intel is needed to push Uniphase or QCOM to much higher levels.

Good Luck.

Jimmy, I say 190 for QCOM as the bottom. What say you? Nice rhythm this stock is in, although the cycle is getting shorter. I'm still looking for my 500 down day on the DOW, I bet I get it.

Have to agree with your list (of new tech leaders), since in one place or another I own some of all. QCOM being the largest holding, with JDSU 2nd.

I also think some of the specialty chip companies in total will represent some weight in list, but none individually. May begin seeing consolidation there starting next year.

Would like your take on the following: Cisco is Microsoft without the attitude and negative rep. (In that they will also buy everything in sight to keep themselves on top.)

BTW re: "was unaware of your post yday on Intel"
When I went back and re-read my post, reference was obscure at best.
