"Fortune" says that Intel is the best managed corp in the US and the fourth best in the world (GE, Microsoft, and Coke). I think they've got it right (except Gates is self-destructive and Coke sucks). It is now swiveling out of exclusive reliance on PC sales. The growth in server chips and networking devices is critical. It's planned growth in PC chips is only 15 to 20 per cent a year, which is not enough. Unless it can grow more rapidly the expected growth in stock value cannot be achieved. Good as servers are, I would be surprised at more than twenty-percent revenue growth. The future over 20% growth must be in networking. If Intel can extend its manufacturing excellence to larger markets, they may be able to do the job. But it's a gamble IMO.
I'm very pleased as a long-term holder that they are taking the chance.
