Timing Test

Ok, I've decided to sacrifice some commission fees for the
good of the thread and do a public real-time experiment
with one of the timing strategies mentioned herein. Instead
of making some new purchases all at once, I have divided
them into two batches. The first batch of trades was
executed at market prices between 10:30-11:00 am this
morning. The second batch, for the same securities, was placed
in GTC limit orders at 5% less than the market purchase price.
Where the limit orders do not hit within three days, I will buy
in at the market price in the same time period Thursday morning.
I will post the results on Thursday afternoon.

Batch 1 Batch 2
(Market) (Limit@95%)

QCOM 222 5/8 211 1/2
GMST 74 7/8 71 1/8
JDSU 133 126 3/8
SEBL 86 1/16 81 3/4
CTXS 65 15/16 62 5/8
CREE 39 7/8 37 7/8

PS the absolute numbers involved here are small,
and in all but one case (CREE) the purchases are
additions to existing holdings. I am taking a
minor flyer on CREE while I continue my research
on it, which will be posted when it's finished.
