A lot of people do not understand the difference between a Lawful and an Unlawful divorce. They take Luke 16:18 in an "Atomistic" way and say there is no remarriage ever....

Then they read a little more of the Bible and them say Oh well if the spouse died then it's alright but that death must be physical.
They fail to realize that if the law of God were to be enforced your husbands first wife would have been put to death by stoning.. Would he not have been free to remarry ??

Then someone shows them I Cor 7 about being abandoned by an unbelieving spouse and where it plainly states that the innocent and faithful person is " not under bondage " Which means not bound by the broken covenant and are "free" just as in the case of the one who is "freed' by the death of a spouse but they will refuse to hear !

1Cor7:15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

So instead they will call you an adulteress and smerk because they think that God is the one convicting you.... Pious eh...

God at one point Commanded divorce by his people on the basis that their wives were guilty of being unbelievers.... That is why Paul had to pen 1 Cor 7
look:

Ezra 10:3 Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.
