Alan,

Hope you don't mind if I butt in...

What operating system will you be using? If Windows NT or Windows2000, you may want to consider 512Mb of RAM. Some trading software sucks memory like mad. I increased memory on my system (Windows2000) from 256Mb to 512Mb, and I could see the difference.

If you decide to start with 256, ask Dell to make it 256 on one chip. That way you'll have 3 additional memory slots available in the future.

Regards,

Dan.

P.s., there is a thread devoted to high-end PCs on SI. Dream Machine (Build Your Own PC). Might find some good info there. Subject 18946

Alan,

Like Dan says in the last post, I'd go with 512 ram on two cards. Regarding the operating system, when I build my system, NT did not support multiple monitors. I understand Windows 2000 does, as does Windows 98, which is what I'm using.
