just a clarification:
"the eye of a needle" is the night gate of a walled city... on which a camel must crawl to enter the city... hope this does not disspell all your illusions of this teaching.

ie. a rich man must crawl to god due to his heavy load and burden as the way is narrow and hard would be a better "non-figurative" translation.

AJ--Please read the whole Bible. Your quote is accurate but, how do you explain the many passages that indicate the the righteous will prosper?

hi i may be coming in on a the back of a subject... but I thought you would find it interesting to know that in bible times the small door behind the city used for times when the gate was closed was called the "eye of the needle" this door was usually under 5 ft tall and only 2 ft wide. most people used it only when on foot because it was so difficult to get their animals though it, however some tried to get their camels in and on rare occasions would succeed.....

Joe ... you never answered my question. Have there ever been men of GOD who were RICH ???

I see that you have heard the standard answer about the small opening in the stone walls that were left open for late comers after the main protective gates were closed. Also it is taught that the Camels had to be taught to walk on their knees to go through and that that was a very rare Camel indeed...

I don't really believe that ! I believe the explanation is quite different but first I want you to answer my question. Then I will tell you what the verse means.
