Boat still floating here. . . INTC was a big disappointment. . .NOT selling. . .holding here and even considering adding if I see more blood on Intel. Sure glad we lightened load this week. . . I sold all my ETYS yesterday and am quite happy about that. I am concerned reports of organized shorts interested in wearable computer biz [see yesterday's intraday]. . .because of that upgrade by a dubious company. . .and because word is out that "we" are in. . .I am totally amazed at a few things in that regard. One is lack of due diligence or near-sightedness by those shorting. . .another is allowing emotions and personal feelings to influence trading decisions. . .this will always disappoint. . .and never acheive the desired effect. . .and finally, why others would follow blindly, despite this poor decision making. Oh well. . .to each his own. . . meanwhile, we have money to make. I have not changed my battle plan in the slightest. . .today is Wednesday. . . my plan was to by mostly out of speculative plays by today. . .and I have moved to about a 35 percent cash position. . .[I rarely pull out much more than this. . .staying fully invested 80 percent of the time] I am currently ignoring Maria Bartoromo's cheerleading, saying all is well, and that buyers are returning. . .silliness. . too obvious. . . at this point, I would need to see considerable buying volume . . .[without me], in order to change my plan. . . and I am not seeing that in any way, nor do I expect to see it. I expect weakness and wild volatility over the next 2 weeks. Suggest we adjust our strategy again. . . rather than the position trades on stocks like ETYS and UBID, which made us some terrific cash here. . . .I would say we would be better served with swing trades and daytrades. . . a tighter trade that takes advantage of the volatility. . . and William's Closet Picks for longer term speculation. . . otherwise, for long terms. . . some of the broadband/telecoms should STILL outperform the market. . . a close eye needs to stay with them . . .I don't think they will sell off all that much. We are going to see rotation into some odd areas again, no doubt. Also, with EGRP coming out with impressive sales growth numbers. . . I expect some strength to come into the OLBs finally. . .despite the direction of the market. . . . these moves could be totally contrary to the rest of the market. . .we've seen it before. Let's keep a close eye on the OLB volume. . .AMTD, EGRP, TWE, NDB, SIEB, etc. Using this weakness to take advantage of the E-Christmas plays is smart. BBY, CC, ETYS [after settling down], ANF, LTD, WMT, etc. Only buy the lows. We need to be thinking hard about a few things. . .what percentage of our ports to dedicate to the broadbands and let them run long. . . and how much to "play" . . . and whether the plays are even beating the longs!! Soon we will be looking to take some big time positions in the future high-fliers . . .for a 6-month hold . . and one more thing to consider is WHICH of these [and/or others] will be picked up by the fund managers in the January Effect, which I expect to start in late November and run through the first week of December. Remember, it is not as important that we have the best issues [can you believe it?], as it is that we have the ones that the fund managers THINK are correct. . . .those will be the big winners in 2000, as they keep on buying them. . . as investors fork over their dough. So just like last year, we make our picks, then wait and watch for the significant volume on no news with large sized buys that indicates we have snagged the fund managers. . . .then by the 10th of December, any issues we hold that never did get snagged by fund volume. . .get thrown back in. . . with the dough on the sidelines the rest of the month, until the super bargains kick in at the end of the month. Well, don't forget to put out the cat and take out the trash. . . LOL!! I covered about every issue to the turn of the millenium. Oh well. . . just don't get fooled. . . my port has never been higher than this week. Rande Is
