'Be neutral on 3G standards' - Motorola
Motorola's president and CEO, Christopher Galvin, has urged
regulators planning the rules for 3G networks to avoid siding with any
one standard. In an implicit dig at those regions, like Europe, which have
settled on a single standard, he pushed for 'technonological neutrality.'
Only that way, he said, 'can we accomplish the economies of scale to
allow global roaming and rollout.' Howard Woolley, vice president of
Bell Atlantic Global Wireless agreed, saying: 'I don't want to spend
another decade explaining to customers that they can't interoperate.'
