Mark, sorry been out most of the day.

< frank, when you get a chance, can you give us a quick lesson on the tape...What you look for? Are we talking time and sales here, or just that little ticker tape on a stock, or both?>

I would characterize it as a lazy mans T/A. Where T/A is more a science, tape watching (reading) is more an Art. As you know I keep my universe of stocks I watch small, no more than 6-12, its not uncommon for me to watch the same 50 stocks for years, so I get to know them very well and can tell when there is unusual movement in them. Basically, what I do is watch the tape (time and sales here, & ticker tape ), I'm looking for the size of the buys vs the sells and the amount of both with price movement or lack of, with increasing volume on no news. Most times the buyers start 2-3 weeks before the news, buy for awhile then back off to let the sellers out then repeat. Most times they will sell into the news on the first day, second can be the
best day for movement, sometimes. (sellers out, overhead gone). Tape watching is for those who don't have the brains for T/A or figure let the smarter and wealthier do all the work and just hop on for the ride.
