To be a liberal, you have to believe that… Any comment that pertains to a minority group is automatically a racist stereotype. This has bothered me for years. Most liberals blatantly ignore the difference between a racial comment and a racist comment, lumping both together as racist. Here is the difference. A racist comment is a blanket statement that applies to a race, and implies or explicitly states that they are deficient overall, or inferior to a second group. A racial comment is a blanket statement that applies to a race, and states a fact or subjective observation. As an educated person, you are forced to admit two things about blanket statements. One is that they cannot be used on a personal level, each individual is different. The second is that they do refer to averages, and on a total group level, they can be, and often are true. Here is the difference between the two comments. Racist comment All Irish are drunks. Racial comment All Irish like to drink. Statement one is racist because it infers that the Irish are something bad, drunks. Statement two points out the collective idea the Irish enjoy their Guinness. Now, because we are educated, we all realize that the statement “All” is not absolute. There are Irish that don’t drink (really, there are!) But, as a whole, the evidence points out that the Irish drink more beer per capita than anybody else, except the Germans. So, to say that Blacks like fried chicken and watermelon is only a racial comment. KFC restaurants are more numerous and more successful in black neighborhoods (and Chinese neighborhoods too). The watermelon part is subjective, there is no evidence that I know of to support this, so I wouldn’t vouch for it. In order for this to be a racist comment, there must be some reason why liking fried chicken and watermelon makes somebody inferior to another group. And more so, some racist comments are true. The best example is this, “Blacks are better runners than whites.” It is a scientific fact, that due to slight differences in thighbone length and body fat, blacks are faster and have better running endurance than white people. So even though it is racist to say Blacks are better than Whites at something, it’s true. So that doesn’t make all racist comments bad.
