7.50-8.00 in a resort area is really not all that high, however. Where I live, county-wide unemployment is around .5% and folks are paying higher than these numbers in resort areas for grunt labor.

In the late 80's, before the real estate market crapped out in New England, I was making 9.00 as a dishwasher in a restaurant while in graduate schoool. We've not hit those extremes, yet. At least not up this way.

Donald,
At least the wealth is starting to filter down <ggg>.

I know for my consulting company, we are giving people raises anywhere from 25% to 100% and up to join us. The wage numbers do not reflect people jumping from one job to another especially among the white collar technology workers.
