Gilder and co-published by Forbes Magazine, we regard his newsletter as one
of the very best concerning technology stock investment strategies. Some of
the stocks they've recommended have already increased in value by as much

*OT* The road to socialism is paved with good
intentions. As someone who spent almost half of
his life in Western Europe, I can see all the
errors which have slowly debilitated Western European
economies being repeated here. Between currently
proposed extensions of the family leave act,
irresponsibly vague provisions of the law
protecting Americans with disabilities, HMO
``reforms' which are in fact intended to provide
a bonanza for lawyers, government meddling
in the structure of retirement plans, such as
intereferences with cash balance retirement
accounts, a picture is forming which indicates
that soon the European sclerosis will be here.

If you read the books of the likes of Lester
Thurow, or look at PBS shows on the economy by the likes
of Hedrick Smith, you will see that all pseudo-educated
pundits are socialists at heart. They always take
socialist countries of Western Europe as a model,
conveniently ignoring the dreadful record of these
economies in creating jobs or bringing new technologies
to the market place.

My only hope is that Americans have a record of acting
swiftly to clean house when a change of direction is
needed (witness what happened to Jimmy Carter and
all the socialist types in the US Senate when
the 1980 election came around).

OT: San Diego county itself exhibits one heck of a lot of socialism. YUK as to the meddling ways and unfair policies I've heard of down in that corner of the country. Perhaps it's just typical of large city containing counties, but I think the place is steeped in socialism to an extent that few if any smaller communities ever contemplate.
