>>SANTA MONICA, Calif. (CBS.MW) -- Shares of Etoys fell Wednesday after a Goldman Sachs analyst said the stock had reached his short-term price target and no longer merited a "trading buy" rating.

Shares of EToys (ETYS: news, msgs) dropped by 2 3/4, or 3.4 percent, to 78 in recent trading.

Analyst Anthony Noto calls the online toy seller a "market outperformer" heading into the all-important holiday season for retailers.

Late last month, Noto had upgraded the stock to a "trading buy" from "market outperformer" and set a price target of $80 a share. Noto said EToys achieved the price target sooner than expected.

"We are transitioning to a market outperform rating to maintain the integrity of the trading buy rating as a communication to investors of near term catalysts that may result in accelerated stock appreciation," Noto wrote in his report on EToys.

While the large short position on the stock -- 5.8 million shares out of a float of 8.3 million shares -- should boost the stock temporarily as traders have to cover their positions, Noto thinks any positive factors for EToys already is reflected in its stock price.<<
