My own assessment is that the US military is still the finest, best equipped and led in the world. Nevertheless, I also believe we, as a collective, are too confident in our military capabilities and that morale within the armed forces during this current administration has become a serious problem. I rather think that we are in more danger from aggression today after the collapse of the Soviet Empire than during any time since the Cuban Missile Crisis. I think its critical to begin a top to bottom assessment very soon. I hope the Repubs make it a major campaign issue. JLA
