I think we can all sense what class people come from- but lots of us have gone beyond that (more so in this country than England of course)- and the people who haven't aren't worth knowing (imo). Of course I have my own criteria for what I like in people- and I don't want to waste my time with people who don't measure up to my criteria-but who wants to hang around people they don't like? We all have criteria for people- whether we admit it or not- and whether our criteria is based on class, or personal interests, or money, or education, or politics, or whatever- there doesn't seem to be to be anything wrong with cleaving to what you like- as long as you don't persecute people who aren't like you.

I don't go around persecuting ignorant extremists- for example. I don't burn giant question marks on their lawns, or spray paint "The Unexamined Life is not worth Living" on their fences. It takes a lot of restraint on my part of course.
