NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Tyco International Ltd. (TYC) expects results for its fourth quarter to exceed earnings estimates.

The company expects to report fourth-quarter results next week.

As reported earlier today, rumors that the company is experiencing accounting problems drove down the price of Tyco's NYSE-listed shares, which closed off 7 3/8, or 7.1%, at 96 on composite volume of 5.4 million shares, compared with average daily volume of about 2.7 million shares. The stock also fell 2.4% Tuesday.

In a press release Wednesday, Tyco International denied rumors relating to the company and requested that the Securities Exchange Commission and the New York Stock Exchange look into the source of the rumors and take action.
