Art, You are making some pretty big claims here: Referring to Dr. Harari: Summing up, he noted that pricing is well in hand, consumer awareness is well in hand, and in the next five years, digital cameras "will obsolete traditional 35 mm except for throwaway cameras." Your editorial comments:To that, I would add that there already is one vacant Kodak factory in Rochester, and probably more to come. Does SNDK need a spare factory? The better question might be, does Kodak need CF? Of course, unless they want to change their trademark to picture a dinosaur. Since I work at Kodak (check out my background) I would point out that Dr. Harari's comment re: "will obsolete traditional 35 mm except for throwaway cameras" is really off base. First of all, to be completely accurate, we don't make throwaway cameras, they are recycled - big time! Saves money and improves profit margins. Second: A blanket statement that 35 mm will become obsolete because of digital is pure bullshit. Will digital cameras take a chunk from 35 mm based images: yes. Will this obsolete 35 mm? No. Digital cameras EAT batteries, do not necessarily work well in cold temperatures, require a fair amount of correction to a resultant exposure to get a good print and are inconvenient for the average consumer. You are not the average consumer, nor are the people on this thread. The reason SNDK has tanked (and made me close to $6,000 in the last three weeks) is because of the pure hype associated with CF being a replacement for film, optical media, magnetics and every other storage medium known to man. I am all for alternative storage devices with greater capacities at lower cost for all of our fun gadgets, but, the wise investor will not forget that the downside of hype is just what Sandisk has experienced since it was in the $90s. Good luck, Keith
